Frequently Asked Questions about Consulations
Confidentiality is a key component of a consultation. What you discuss will not be shared with anyone else. A consultant can’t release this information without your written consent, except in the following situations:
- The consultant suspects there is past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults or elders.
- The consultant suspects the client is in danger of harming themselves or has threatened to harm another person.
Each person has unique relationship skills and challenges. A consultation will assist you wherever you are in your relationship growth. Typically speaking, we will discuss the things that are currently happening in your relationships, things that have happened in the past that are relevant to your current concerns. We will work together to find understanding and build skills to grow the relationship in safe, positive ways.
At some point, everyone goes through difficult relationship challenges. While you may have been able to cope with the challenges you’ve encountered, it’s always a good idea to seek extra support when you need it. In fact, when you realize you need a helping hand, you’re taking responsibility admirably by facing the challenges you have encountered. A consultation will give you a jump start in resolving and moving forward from relationship challenges that may repeat over and over in the same relationship, or similar difficulties in subsequent relationships. I can provide support and help you find relief for issues such as trauma, mild depression or anxiety, grief, stress, and relationship problems. I can help you move forward into building healthy relationship skills that will affect all of the relationships in your life. A consultation IS NOT a replacement for therapy or medical care. Referrals will be provided to encourage therapeutic intervention as needed.
